Michelle Obama Shows Loyalty to Small Retailers!

First Lady, Michelle Obama continues to operate out of her mantra...All for the people. I'm very impressed that she has remained consistent in this theme concerning political affairs as well as her calculating attempts to choose unknown designers and boutique owners. Apparently, Michelle consults with Ikram Goldmen, a Chicago boutique owner that carries many of the designers that Michelle has wore to date. Many media outlets are calling her the gatekeeper between the fashion industry and first lady. All details regarding the making of the first lady's wardrobe for the inagural was overseen by Mrs. Goldmen, who kept designers in the dark about whether their outfit would be chosen. According to Mrs. Obama's press secretary, "Mrs. Obama has shopped at Ikram's boutique for years and appreciates her shared interests in working with a broad array of designers, including many young up and coming designers."

What are your thoughts? Do you think Michelle should deal with the designers directly or Is it okay for someone of her ranking to deal with just the retailer? Many designers are hesitant to deal with Mrs. Goldman and unsettled by Michelle's decision to not deal with the Designers directly like so many other First Lady's have done in the past...Share your thoughts
